Creative thinking

Creative thinking workshops

Practical techniques that help teams generate better ideas, faster. Taught by David Peace, with techniques your team can put to work straight away.

Based in Cork, working with teams across Ireland and worldwide. All services available virtually upon request.

Creativity is a process, not a talent

Teams are regularly asked to be more innovative, then given no method for it. The result is a brainstorm where the loudest voice sets the direction, the first reasonable idea wins and everyone quietly agrees that the real decisions will be made elsewhere.

Creative thinking is a learnable process. It means knowing how to produce more options before judging any of them, how to break the patterns a team falls into by default, and how to filter ideas without killing the useful ones. None of that is mysterious, and all of it can be practised.

David Peace has spent more than twenty years performing as a magician and mind reader, where understanding how people think, pay attention and jump to conclusions is the whole job. He was also very shy growing up, and the techniques he teaches are the ones he used himself to find his own way in.

Who it is for

Ideal for sales and leadership teams. It also suits:

  • Teams facing a problem the usual answers have not solved
  • Groups that keep converging on the same idea
  • Sales and client-facing teams who need to rethink an approach
  • Leaders who want their team to bring options rather than problems

What the team takes away

  • Lateral-thinking tools that break unproductive patterns
  • Ways to generate and filter ideas as a group
  • A repeatable creative process the team can reuse

These are habits and tools, not theory, so they can be used in the next meeting rather than filed away.

How it runs

Choose the format that fits your goal. Every option is available in person or virtually, and each one is tailored to the team in the room.

01

Talk

A presentation from David followed by a Q&A, with live magic used to show how attention and assumption work. A strong opener for an away day or a leadership session.

02

Half-day workshop

The ideas plus group exercises where the team generates, filters and tests options together on a problem that is actually theirs.

03

Full-day workshop

A deeper session that works through the full process on a real challenge, so the team leaves with a method and with output they can use.

Half a day of creative thinking and half a day of public speaking is also available as a single booking.

Why this works in a corporate setting

David has worked in the corporate world, from customer support through to managing a multinational team of software developers and QA engineers, in both large multinationals and early-stage start-ups. He knows what it is like to sit in a room where nobody wants to suggest the wrong thing.

That is why the sessions are built around tools rather than encouragement. The techniques are practical, they survive contact with a normal working week, and the examples come from workplaces your team will recognise.

Frequently asked questions

What is creative thinking training?

It is practical training in how to generate and develop ideas as a team. Rather than hoping inspiration arrives, it covers techniques for producing more options, ways to filter and improve them together, and a repeatable process the team can reuse long after the session. The focus is on techniques that work in a normal working week.

Is it just brainstorming?

No. Brainstorming is one small part of it. The weakness of a plain brainstorm is that the loudest or most senior voice tends to set the direction, and the first reasonable idea tends to win. The techniques in this workshop are designed to widen the options first and then test them properly, so the group gets past its own habits.

Who is it for?

It suits sales and leadership teams, and it is tailored to whichever team is in the room. Teams who need to solve problems nobody has solved yet, or who keep returning to the same answers, tend to get the most from it.

Can you deliver this virtually?

Yes. All services are available virtually on request, and sessions run in person across Ireland and worldwide.

Do you travel outside Cork?

Yes. David is based in Cork and works with teams across Ireland and worldwide, with travel covered.

Can we book this alongside the public speaking workshop?

Yes. Many teams book half a day of creative thinking and half a day of public speaking, either as one full day or as two separate sessions. The two topics complement each other well, since both come down to thinking clearly and communicating it with confidence.
